YCS, along with 14 other neighboring Maine towns, have partnered with Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse (MYL)- Maine Region beginning this 2026 lacrosse season. We will NOT be playing games in Massachusetts. We are looking forward to this partnership as MYL can support Maine’s youth lacrosse programs with structured scheduling, consistent rules of play, coach education, and staff dedicated to cultivating the sport at the grassroots level. Other MYL Maine Region Member Towns include: Back Bay, Biddeford, Brunswick, Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland, Falmouth, Gorham, Kennebunk, Marshwood, Massabesic, Saco, Scarborough, South Portland, Windham

Coach Resources

YCS volunteer coaches are the heart of our programs, bringing time, energy, and passion on and off the field. Coaching is a great way to give back, make a difference, and share meaningful experiences with local youth. No experience? No problem — we support all coaches, new and experienced alike!

Steps for all coaches:

1) Complete the YCS Volunteer Coach Application

2) Complete the MYL Coach Compliance Form

  • If you select to be a Compliant Coach, you only need to complete the online content. This includes a background check and training videos on abuse prevention and concussion awareness.

  • If you select to be a Certified Coach, you will need to attend an in-person Coach Certification Clinic. MYL plans to hold clinics in Maine but has not yet set dates. We need at least 1 coach from each team to be a Certified Coach. YCS will reimburse the $50 clinic fee.

3) Keep an eye out for next steps from YCS Rec Coordinator Madi at mworthington@yarmouth.me.us

4) Get ahead of the game! Check out NAYS coaching resources for additional online training.
